Kindergarten Teacher

“You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in You. Trust in the Lord forever, for the Lord himself, is the Rock eternal.”
Isaiah 26:3-4

I am a graduate of Baylor University with a degree in Speech Pathology and post grad work in elementary education. I am beginning my 24th year of teaching at Woodway Christian School. I started the year my youngest daughter was in the 1st grade. We were only a preschool then.

It has been a wonderful journey growing with this fabulous school. After teaching 3 years of PreK we added Kindergarten so I moved up with the children. Three years later we added 1st grade and I moved on with them. I loved teaching this age for 15 years! I moved back to Kindergarten two years and love it! This is a big year of learning, changing and growing! I am excited about spending the year with these children.

I love having class sizes that allow me to really know my students as individuals and spend time with each one of them each day. It is fascinating to participate with them as they read, write and discover new things. It is such a privilege to be allowed to share God’s Word with them and pray with them as a part of our days.

I have been married to my best friend, Tom, who is a CPA for Baylor in financial services, for almost 40 years. We have been members of FBC Woodway where we teach Sunday school and sing in the choir for our entire married life. We have 3 precious daughters, who are married to 3 wonderful young men, and 8 amazing grandchildren! Kylie and Ronny Higgins live in Waco and are parents to Hudson, Avery, Eli and Josiah (all students at WCS). Annesa and Gabe Scott live in Houston and are parents to our granddaughters, Harper, Scarlett and baby arriving in November.  Emily and Tommy Field live in Waco and are parents to our grandsons, Crew and Hayes.

Outside of school, I like to hang out with my family and friends, take walks, and watch baseball and Baylor basketball. For a couple of fun facts to share, I’ve been on 9 mission trips and have climbed the tallest sand dune in the world in Namibia, Africa.
