“Trust in the Lord with all your heart; and lean not on your own understanding. But in all thy ways acknowledge Him and He will make your path straight”
Proverbs 3:5-6

My name is Laura Barlow. I’m beginning my 10th year at Woodway Christian School. For the 2020-2021 school year, I will be teaching Kindergarten-3rd grade general music, 4th-8th grade choir and drama, and Kindergarten computer. This year will be my 14th year of teaching. I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education and a Masters degree in Instructional Technology from Mississippi State University.

Music has always been part of my life. I learned to play the piano at a young age and later learned to play the flute, but singing has always been my passion. I had a big desire to study opera throughout high school. I also sang in three different choirs in high school and was part of many all state choirs. I went to college with a music scholarship and sang in my college’s chorus. However, I felt God leading me to teach elementary age children and so that was what I pursued. God brought music back into my life 11 years ago when I began to lead 3 year old choir at First Baptist Church of Woodway. Soon after that, God opened doors so that I could combine my talents together and spend everyday praising his name. God is so good!

I have been married 16 wonderful years to my husband Jeff and we have one precious 12 year old son named Jakob. In my free time, I love to attend Baylor athletic events with my family, cook, travel, and read books.

My verse to live by in the Bible is Proverbs 3:5-6 which says “Trust in the Lord with all your heart; and lean not on your own understanding. But in all thy ways acknowledge Him and He will make your path straight”.
