Orchestra Director / Librarian

“And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.”
Colossians 3:17

Hi! My name is Vanessa Ostlund and I teach Orchestra at Woodway Christian School and am also the school librarian. I am so excited to be able to teach students how to play the bowed stringed instruments (violin, viola, cello, and double bass), and am looking forward to a wonderful year of learning, reading, fun, concerts, and great music!

This will be my sixth year to teach at Woodway Christian School and my thirteenth year of teaching. Before having children of my own, I taught orchestra in the public schools after graduating from Rice University with a degree in violin. There are so many wonderful benefits that students get from learning how to play an instrument and I cannot wait to be a part of seeing that.

My husband Sandor and I have been married for eighteen years. We have four precious children: Aidan, Dylan, Ashton, and Madelyn. Aidan and Dylan graduated from Woodway Christian School and Ashton and Madelyn currently attend WCS.

It is an honor and privilege to be able to work with your precious children and I am looking forward to a truly incredible year of making music and reading!
